Second Life: Pathfinding — Will It Save The World? A Couple Of Sugestions

By Avatar JayR Cela

Quite frankly: I don’t see how you can fit a MMORPG onto one measly sim. The limited number of allowable prims presents another hurdle.

The Linden Lab head honchos include a number of very respectable former leaders in the computer gaming industry. Notice the word former, please.

Are these folks living in the past, or are they capable of predicting the future? I don't think either are accurate descriptions of the current situation facing Linden Lab.

OpenSim is breathing down their necks, and they know it!

I'm just going to make a couple of suggestions here:

    1) Start giving away sims to promising virtual world gaming initiatives. And you know what? The setup fee for a region of $1,000 and $295 tiers a month in order to maintain a presence here is getting old. And ridiculous. Correct that.

    2)  Increase the amount of allowable prims per sim. Hell, you’ve got enough server hardware to run the Pentagon and seem to be losing customers left and right. So what's the hold-up?

Time to wake up, you Lindens! The clock is ticking. Don’t wait until the bell tolls.
